Employee Diversity Hackathon

Employee Diversity

Employee Diversity with Pride

Each year, TH.0 supports Brighton Pride by hosting an Employee Diversity Hackathon to promote a culture of acceptance and belonging by eradicating employee discrimination in the work place.

Unfortunately Brighton Pride itself has been cancelled, however, our fellow supporters have requested our 2020 hackathon still goes ahead….albeit, a few weeks later than originally scheduled, we are going virtual this year!

Why LGBTQIA?

Unfortunately, equality of professional standing for the LGBTQIA+ community remains questionable within the workplace. We host our annual Employee Diversity with Pride annual hackathons to help promote all year round quality and inclusion.

We call on you to invest your CSR allocation to brainstorm, plan, develop and create solutions that will empower LGBTQIA+ professionals by putting gender-responsive innovations at the centre stage.

Govtech

GovTech 2021

What is GovTech?

GovTech frames some of the biggest challenges in the voting process as opportunities to improve systems across the UK. We are focusing on enhancing traditional methods through using modern technology and innovative approaches.

Why GovTech?

The UK government would be encouraged to understand why people are disengaged with politics, how can we motivate others to vote, or perhaps even learn from what other nations are doing in utilising blockchain and AI technology. TH.0 brings you GovTech. New ideas are the key!

INTRODUCING THIS YEAR'S

CHALLENGES

#GovTech

Transparency of Information
Engaging non voters

What can be done to increase voter turnout and offer reliable alternatives to how the public consume information around politics. Providing vulnerable people such as elderly groups and those with learning difficulties as well as millennials with the resources to make informed decisions on voting will surely improve engagement.

Blockchain
Modernising the Voting  Process

The use of blockchain technology continues to rise across a multitude of sectors, but how can it be implanted in voting? In an age of a global pandemic and lock-down measures, surely now is the time to look for ways in which digital methods such as blockchain can be used successfully and securely – decentralising the entire voting process.

AI
Improving Voting Opportunities

We have begun to see implementation of AI as technology to improve voting opportunities to individuals not able to attend their local polling station. As we progress further into a more mobile world, how can we use AI to ensure accurate verification of members of the public so that location does not inhibit the opportunity to vote on election day

Fraud
Mitigating Threats

Traditionally, fraud has always been one of the greatest threats to the legitimacy of the voting process. More can be done to eradicate the issue of identity theft. How can an outcome be achieved to ensure effective verification of individuals within infrastructures that are set up to be time-efficient and cost-effective.

CHALLENGES

#ClimaTH0n

Air Pollution from Particulate Matter
How can major cities in the UK, such as London, implement real change to reduce the harmful pollution which is compromising the health of its citizens.
We understand that emissions from diesel engines in vehicles are the primary cause of the issue, but what measures can be taken, perhaps to help businesses that rely on travel in and out of the city, to achieve more sustainable supply chains.
Protection & Restoration of the Natural Environment
The government has highlighted the importance to reverse the impacts on the landscape of the natural environment as a priority where ‘more action is needed.
But what can be done to help engage communities to connect with aspects in nature including public forests, woodlands, species protection and cleaner & water.
Flooding
Aggressive storms and rising sea levels have become more prominent, and are set to continue, making the risk and impact of flooding more damaging to people and their livelihoods.
It is expected that coastal communities in Wales and Scotland will be of those most likely to suffer the consequences.
What can be done to protect these communities, and help them to develop catchment-based strategies that will not only raise awareness but help catalyse ideas for change that will better tackle flooding from a localised point of view.
Overheating in office buildings
The majority of working spaces were purposely built with the intention to keep heat in, to cope with harsh winters.
But as summer temperatures continually rise, the working conditions are less than favourable unless your business can bear the financial strain and in-efficiencies of air-conditioning units.

What can be done to ensure business owners can save costs whilst simultaneously offering workspace environments that can easily adapt to changes in temperature and meet green targets.

Blockchain in Insurance

How can Blockchain integration in the insurance industry save you $700 a year and save the industry $80 Billion?

One of the oldest industries may faces stagnation. Blockchain could  make companies more profitable and more transparent. Listed by Forbes as the next major disruption. Will you be a part of that innovation?

Blockchain in Supply Chain

Our second challenge will focus on Blockchain intergration to the GSC (Global Supply Chain).
Throughout 2020, our supply chains have been greatly disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst the GSC has been out of date for a long time, it was brought into sharp focus this year.
How can Blockchain be intergrated into and update the GSC? How can it make it more efficient and accuarate?

AI Combating Education Inequality

Children in countries with the poorest access to education can only expect 5 years. With so few educational resources to go around, the chance of moving out of poverty is less than 1%.

AI could change that.
How can Advanced AI, Machine Learning and Starlink combat this injustice?

AI in E-Commerce

Amazon made $12.9 Billion from recommending items last quarter. Hyper accurate recommendations are possible because of the incredible amount of data Amazon holds on each user. Smaller e-commerce stores have limited resources with which to create recommendations and thus, are unable to compete with e-commerce giants. Can open source AI begin to turn the tide?
